Shipment of counterfeit sunglasses seized and destroyed

COBALT has successfully represented the manufacturer of luxury eyewear and sunglasses in relation to the detention of a shipment of counterfeit goods and their destruction.

In August 2023, the Latvian Customs Authority seized a shipment of counterfeit sunglasses from China to Latvia. We successfully defended the trademark holder and the Latvian Customs Authority adopted a decision to destroy the counterfeit items.

“Consumers must remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to counterfeiting, as goods can easily be concealed in plain sight on online marketplaces, deceiving shoppers into purchasing low-quality and potentially hazardous counterfeits. We are grateful for the work carried out by the Latvian Customs Authority in seizing the counterfeit goods and the swift cooperation by ‘Getliņi EKO’ in destroying them,” comments Specialist Counsel Līga Fjodorova.
