Latvijas Nacionālais sporta centrs receives additional funding to build a team sports hall in Riga

Latvijas Nacionālais sporta centrs SIA has received an additional EUR 7.9 million in government funding to complete a team sports hall construction project in Riga.

The project entails the development of a sports hall that will house three transformable basketball courts and seating for up to 3,000 spectators. It will also feature sectors for athletics and weightlifting, alongside essential sports infrastructure such as changing rooms, sports medicine facilities, athlete dormitories, and a car park.

On state aid matters, Latvijas Nacionālais sporta centrs was advised by COBALT, which provided a legal opinion on the definition of “start of works” within the meaning of Regulation 651/2014 (i.e. the General Block Exemption Regulation), represented the client in negotiations with the Ministry of Finance and the European Commission and aided in the preparation of a notification to the European Commission.
