Court rules in favour of COBALT’s client, awarding the recovery of 10 years’ land lease payments

The Riga Regional Court has ruled in favour of COBALT’s client, awarding the recovery of ten years of unpaid land lease payments.

In this case, the court assessed the landowner’s right not only to receive land lease payment debts for the period when COBALT’s client was the landowner, but also for earlier periods when the property was still owned by another person from whom COBALT’s client inherited the property.

COBALT successfully proved in court that the new landowner was entitled to recover the entire lease payment debts, including those debts accrued during the previous ownership and which were subsequently inherited by COBALT’s client by accepting the inheritance. Both the court of first instance and the court of appeal fully upheld the claim of the landowner represented by COBALT.
