Competition Council terminates its investigation into Linava association
2014 - 05 - 12
COBALT represented Linava, the Lithuanian National Association of Road Carriers, in an investigation opened by the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania into compliance of the Association’s conduct while distributing TIR carnets with Article 7 of the Law on Competition of the Republic of Lithuania and Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
The Competition Council investigated into alleged unfair (excessive) pricing of certain types of TIR Carnets by the Association, who charged members and candidate members of the Association different prices, and into discrimination against candidate members in this regard. The Association submitted its commitment to the Competition Council to unify the prices of the respective TIR carnets for members and candidate members of Linava by 1 April 2014. The commitment was fulfilled on 1 April 2014.
On 18 April 2014 the Competition Council terminated the investigation by accepting the commitment of Linava to unify the prices of the respective TIR carnets for its members and candidate members.
COBALT provided legal advice to the Association throughout the investigation and assisted in preparing the commitment to the Competition Council. The project was led by Dr Irmantas Norkus, Managing Partner, and Kęstutis Šukvietis, Associate.
