COBALT helps AB Linas Agro Group obtain merger clearance in Latvia for the acquisition of Kauno grūdai group

COBALT represented AB Linas Agro Group before the Competition Council of Latvia in merger control procedure concerning the acquisition of Kauno grūdai group. Linas Agro Group controls several full-cycle production and distribution companies operating in the field of chicken meat production. It owns the well-known Latvian poultry farming and chicken meat production brand Ķekava. It also operates in several other agricultural markets, selling seeds, fertilisers, plant protection products, raw feedstuffs and grains.

Kauno grūdai group operates in similar fields in Lithuania and Latvia. It is the largest chicken meat producer in Lithuania and is present in several other agricultural markets.

The merger of both groups will increase their competitiveness and productivity, improve distribution and procurement, enable the introduction of more modern and efficient technologies, facilitate access to external funding, and will put them on a path to expansion outside the Baltic region.

Having combined their know-how on production and consumer preferences, both groups will be able to improve the characteristics of the products and diversify their product portfolios.

The closing of the deal is subject to merger clearance in other countries.
