Berlin-based language learning mobile app Tandem recently announced raising 2 million euros from Rubylight, Faber Ventures, and existing investors Hannover Beteiligungsfonds, Atlantic Labs and Zehden.
Tandem is a language learning community that provides an easy way to learn a foreign language with the help of people from around the world. Members form one-on-one Tandem partnerships to teach each other their native languages via text, audio and video chat. Tandem was founded in 2015 by Arnd Aschentrup, Tobias Dickmeis and Matthias Kleimann, and was recognised by Apple in their “App Store Best of 2015” list.
Rubylight was advised by partner Kristel Raidla-Talur, associates Greete-Kristiine Kuru and Aleksander Tsuiman, and specialist counsel Ave Piik. German law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek was engaged for covering local law aspects of the transaction.
