Balin Energy starts to drill the very first hydrocarbons exploration well in the Baltic sea

Balin Energy SIA, a joint venture by Kuwait Energy and PKN Orlen, has started to drill the very first hydrocarbons exploration well in the Latvian exclusive economic zone. The prospect is located approximately 100 km off the western shore of Latvia.

COBALT team is providing a full range of legal assistance to Balin Energy, including advice on various regulatory, contractual, environmental, labour law, transportation and tax issues. The operation raises many novel issues that can be resolved only in close cooperation with the authorities and relying on best practices developed in other jurisdictions.
