Mervet Kägu leads the ESG and sustainability practice at COBALT Estonia with particular focus on ESG-related regulatory compliance and risk mitigation strategies. She also assists clients with corporate sustainability reporting, disclosure requirements, ESG-focused due diligence, and drafting ESG-related policies and procedures.
She has previously researched the ESG regulatory landscape and consulted FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies on their ESG-related disclosure requirements. She also researched implementation of market-based measures (EU ETS) in the aviation sector while at the European Commission.
Mervet assisted the UNFCCC Secretariat and the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol on climate change disclosures and with research on the principle of Common But Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR) and how it should be reflected in the Paris Agreement ahead of COP21.
She previously worked in several international law firms and in other public and private organizations such as Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, the European Commission, the United Nations (UNFCCC), and in an ESG tech start up Datamaran.
