Paulius Markovas becomes a partner at COBALT

One of the biggest law firms in the Baltic States COBALT has promoted Dr Paulius Markovas, Head of Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice group, to become its fifth partner in Lithuania. A leading bankruptcy and restructuring law professional in our country, Dr Paulius Markovas has been with COBALT since 2009.

During more than 15 years in legal practice Dr Markovas has gained extensive experience in the fields of Bankruptcy and Restructuring, Distressed Assets Sale and Recovery, Civil and Commercial Litigation and Conflict Management. The newly admitted partner has worked and advised clients on numerous major bankruptcy and restructuring matters in the market and regularly represents clients in courts of all instances. In the previous year alone he represented and advised natural and legal persons in more than 10 large and famous cases.

The Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice group headed by Dr Markovas rendered legal advice in AB bank Snoras bankruptcy case, the largest of its kind on the market, advising the bank’s creditors on various bankruptcy related processes, also provided on-going advice and acted for such clients as UAB Ektornet Real Estate Lithuania, Swedbank controlled real estate management company, Ūkio Banko Investicinė Grupė BUAB, AB SEB Bank group, Nukem Technologies GmbH, Kleta UAB, Caverion Lietuva UAB, Universalios Valdymo Sistemos UAB, Bristol Squibb Myers (Pharma Swiss), Medikona UAB; credit unions Naftininkų Investicijos and Vilniaus Taupomoji Kasa; Enercon GmbH, Klaipėdos Smeltė AB, MEI Baltija UAB, Belarusian state-owned enterprise Beloruskalij RUP, including many other local and international companies and individuals.

In 2005, Paulius Markovas received his PhD in Social Sciences (Law) from Vilnius University. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance Law and Finance from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University (Germany). Since 2004 Dr Markovas has been a member of the Lithuanian Bar Association. Dr Paulius Markovas is an author of a number of articles and scientific research studies on legal issues.
