COBALT Senior Associate Heleri Tammiste taught a class on Estonian Constitution within project initiated and coordinated by the Estonian Supreme Court

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia and following an invitation of Chairman of the Estonian Supreme Court Märt Rask, more than 100 classes on Estonian Constitution were taught in Estonian schools on October 1, 2012. The classes were taught by high state officials and professional lawyers. COBALT Senior Associate Heleri Tammiste spoke about the Constitution and constitutional review at Pärnu Sütevaka Private High School of Humanities. The school’s graduates have for years been among the country’s top performers in state final exams. Each senior student who participated in Heleri’s class received as present a copy of the Constitution. Heleri said that by communicating with the class, she received a very valuable experience of the actual legal questions that young people have when thinking about their constitutional rights. “The discussion got most lively when we were talking about specific life situations and options for behavior under such circumstances.”
