Devbridge Foundation completes the Kaunas Sobor lighting project and transfers it to the city municipality
2024 - 10 - 23
The Devbridge Foundation initiated and financed the lighting of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, which was officially transferred to the Kaunas City Municipality on October 10. This church lighting was the foundation’s first project and aligns with its goal to preserve and promote Lithuanian culture.
Over the past five years, Kaunas has illuminated a significant number of the city’s churches, with this initiative also being embraced by private businesses. As Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis noted, the municipality oversaw the restoration of the Sobor’s façade, while the Devbridge Foundation was responsible for the lighting.
The charity fund was established by eight founders of the company, who donated 8 million EUR to its statutory capital. The fund aims to nurture and inspire the next generation of leaders, focusing on economic growth, access to knowledge, and the promotion of entrepreneurship.
The Church of St. Michael the Archangel, also known as the Kaunas Sobor, began construction in 1891 and was completed in 1895. The Sobor was designed as a representative fortress structure, symbolizing luxury and formality. Today, it frequently hosts church music concerts, theatrical performances, and regular exhibitions.
During the execution of the project, the Devbridge Foundation was legally assisted by COBALT Specialist Counsel Rasa Mikutienė, Senior Associate Viktorija Varnaitė and the COBALT team.
