COBALT advised Royal Unibrew on the acquisition of Tanker Brewery

COBALT advised Royal Unibrew on the acquisition of Estonian craft beer producer Tanker Brewery.

Royal Unibrew is a leading regional multi-beverage company that offers high-quality beverages within beer, malt beverages, soft drinks as well as ciders, ready-to-drink, juice, energy, and water products. In addition to their own brands, they are offering license-based international brands like PepsiCo and Heineken in Northern Europe. Tanker Brewery is an Estonian start-up craft beer producer, established in 2014, and their goal is to offer a wide variety of tasty, exciting, and bold flavors.

Tanker Brewery had raised funds on the Funderbeam platform, and the transaction was the first exit from the Funderbeam platform setting precedents for the transactions to come.

Our work included advising the client throughout the transaction, including conducting a legal audit, drafting and negotiating transaction documents. The COBALT team was led by Specialist Counsel Ott Aava and included Partner Peeter Kutman and Associate Kerli Paasoja.
