The Estonian Environmental Board should stop eavesdropping on hunters found to be breaking the law, and this should also be clearly stated to the public, writes Managing Associate Lembit Tedder.
The environment is a field of global and national importance. In addition to what is happening on a global level – perhaps the recent floods in Pakistan – we must not forget the local, whether it is the pollution of the Umbus River or hunting concerns, which I will focus on in this story.
In May of this year, the Chancellor of Justice reprimanded the Environment Board regarding the secret eavesdropping of hunters’ radio communications. In essence, the Environmental Board listened (and listens?) to the hunters secretly, and according to the Chancellor of Justice, such activity is against the law, even criminal.
